Wire Drawing - Wire Drawing Process
Aristo-tec's years of experience with drawing wire and has established a proficiency with the wire drawing process. We offer wire drawing as a part of our overall process to control the quality and to eliminate the need for outsourcing raw materials for our clients. By bringing wire drawing in house, we have the flexibility to manufacture various characteristics of the wire we use in our customer's products. We have also established many proprietary drwaing processes that offer unique finishes and capabilities that are not available from other companies.
The drawing process allows Aristo-tec to make raw material wire any size diameter to meet customers specifications. The process also allows us to manufacture wire with specific surface finishes and tensile strengths.
Wire Drawing Benefits:
- Manufacturing wire from rod to a specific size diameter
- Improving the finished surface and removing scale from the rod
- Improving tensile strength in the finished material
- Providing more consistent round shape of the material.
Much of the wire used at Aristo-Tec is cold drawn in our own drawing process. We start with hot rolled rods in coil. The rod is then cold drawn through a carbide die of a smaller diameter and recoiled. The hot rolled rod that has been cold drawn is now smaller in diameter, longer in length, brighter in appearance, higher in tensile strength and called WIRE. Our wire is then sent on to be straightened and cut to length or formed directly from the coil.
The diagram at the right demonstrates the wire drawing process. The dies have a variety of lubricants to remove scale and improve the finished wire.
Aristo-tec also provides wire drawing toll services to customers who supply us their own rod stock in ferrous materials.
